Spirituality and Transformative Leadership

Our world is at a crossroads. Increasing geopolitical conflict, the worsening climate crisis, humanitarian disasters, economic inequality, the threat of global pandemics, rising nationalism and leadership that debases humanity, is the hallmark of our time.

There’s a growing awareness that we need a totally new model. That a deep shift in consciousness is necessary to effect change and that we won’t be able to get there relying on the methods and approaches we’ve used in the past. We need a whole new way of looking at the role of the leader and the skills that he or she will need to deliver on the transformation our world really needs.

An inner journey for outer transformation.

Leadership for our time.

Our founder, Caroline Watson, recently launched an initiative to explore the idea of what Spirituality and Transformative Leadership would look like, in partnership with fellow Young Global Leaders from the World Economic Forum and the Huffington Post

The Spirituality and Transformative Leadership programme is a visionary programme for leaders looking to ‘dig deep’ into their leadership journey and build a more substantive model for their future, one that understands the imperative of the interior journey to face up to the reality of being a leader today, in the face of mounting challenges in our world.

The 12 week programme combines a combination of in-person online workshops and an individual coaching programme, combined with micro-learning modules that can be accessed at any time through your mobile phone, to support the in-person learning. Themes include:

·      The interior journey of a leader

·      Nelson Mandela, Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King - what these leaders can teach us about leadership

·      Religion vs spirituality

·      The role of culture in shaping norms and values

·      Letting go of ego to empower others

·      The value of the sacred and divine

·      Overcoming Fear Through Love

·      Ethical leadership and integration of ESG

·      Our relationship with the natural world

·      Servant leadership

·      What is legacy?

·      Putting the human before everything else

·     Managing self, before managing others

Caroline is a warm and engaging master facilitator who herself has undergone a deep and profound leadership journey where her spiritual practice as been the cornerstone of her success as a leader. She knows intimately what it means to have to dig deep into the core of your being to peel back the layers and get to the core of what good leadership is. Caroline expertly weaves her background in theatre with her vast experience of leading from the ground up, to make the workshops both grounded in contemporary thinking about leadership, as well as first hand experience.

The format of the programme includes a monthly 3-hour online Zoom ‘masterclass’, lead by Caroline, which often uses skills and techniques based on her background in theatre, interspersed with practical advice and guidance on specific issues your team is likely to be going through, based on her own experience. The format gives plenty of time for plenary work, breakout sessions and one-to-one feedback through a live Q and A session open to all participants.

The Masterclass is then followed up with micro-learning through our online application on the Gnowbe portal, offering additional videos, articles, questions and answers, peer-group learning support and opportunities for further research.  An option for small group coaching for teams to integrate the learning directly onto real-world problems your organisation is dealing with is also available, lead by our global facilitator team.

In common with all of our programmes, we use creative and participatory approaches to training and leadership development, such as the development of character and story that can be key assets in understanding your stakeholders and improving your communications; using the tools of acting to improve your presentation skills; and role play and ‘Forum’ Theatre to ‘rehearse for real life’ the individual behaviour change and larger-scale social change needed to bring about visionary thinking and doing in our leadership
